RYA INTERMEDIATE POWERBOAT COURSE

The RYA Intermediate course is a two day course covering the practical use of pilotage and passage planning by day in coastal waters using both traditional and electronic navigational techniques. During the two days you also cover more advanced boat handling. It is recommended for anyone considering moving on to the Advanced course.

Introduction to the course:

The Intermediate Powerboat course is designed to improve seamanship skills and provide the information required in order to properly plan and execute a coastal day passage. The course covers a range of areas starting with a review of the level 2 syllabus then moving onto more advanced navigation such as tidal curves, estimated position, triangulation and low visibility navigation. It also looks at different techniques for manoeuvring the boat in unusual or difficult conditions.

Do I need previous experience?

Recommended that you have completed the RYA Powerboat level 2 course, if not have prior boat handling experience.
